We've got to help Al Gore

Today, I got a very nice email from one of my very good friends, which was compelling enough for me to act upon it immediately. I sure hope, that once you’ve read what I am about to share with you, you will do the same.

The title of the email was intriguing:

“I'm supporting Al Gore, please add your voice too”

The body of the email read as follows:

“In two days Al Gore is going to address the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia. At his urging, I've signed an important petition showing I support his important call for a visionary treaty to address the climate crisis. I hope you will too.

The world's elected leaders must take the steps necessary to solve global warming. It's not too late. We have the opportunity now to improve the Earth's future for our children, and their children. If we don't act, we will only have ourselves to blame.
Please sign the petition today: http://www.climateprotect.org/standwithal

So I clicked on the link, and this is what came up:

Dear friend,

In two days I'm going to Bali, Indonesia to address the UN Climate Change Conference. In front of representatives from the world's countries, I will speak about the need for a visionary treaty to be completed, ratified and brought into effect everywhere in the world by 2010. I need you, your friends and family to sign this petition calling for a new, positive leadership role by our elected leaders. I will bring your signatures on stage with me as a clear demonstration of our resolve.

This petition shows our commitment to solutions to the climate crisis. Please add your voice today and urge your friends to add theirs. The time for action is now. Only together can we make the change.

Sincerely,

Al Gore

I filled out the petition stuff, and added the following message:

“I am very much in support of people who are trying to help with global warming awareness, and trying to get our elected officials to do something about it. This is why for instance, it makes no sense right now to go for an all electric car, since when one would need to charge it in the U.S., they would tap into our 75% plus coal burning made electricity. I am strongly in favor of liquid hydrogen solutions, see my blog at www.liquidhydrogensolution.blogspot.com
Actually, I could use a few minutes on the phone with Al Gore, or a contact with email, as I have some major offers to contribute to his/our fight.

So here you have it, the latest update, as to what I am doing to help with this issue.
Then I went on the site itself, as it took me, see below:

“Join Me in Bali

I support Al Gore's call for a visionary global treaty to be completed and brought into effect by 2010 and want my government to be a leader in making this happen.”

And gave them the email addresses of 5 of my friends, as to spread the message. This could go very fast if everyone does this, check it out for yourselves: 5 – 25 – 125 – 625 – 3,125 – 15,625 – 78,125 – 390,625 – 1,953,125 – 9,765,625 – 48,828,125 etc…I love it.

There is also a link on
www.climateprotect.org website, as to his acceptance speech, and here is a piece of it:

Key Policy Comments from Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech

"This week, I will urge the delegates in Bali to adopt a bold mandate for a treaty that establishes a universal global cap on emissions and uses the market in emissions trading to efficiently allocate resources to the most effective opportunities for speedy reductions.

This treaty should be ratified and brought into effect everywhere in the world by the beginning of 2010 – two years sooner than presently contemplated. The pace of our response must be accelerated to match the accelerating pace of the crisis itself.

Heads of state should meet early next year to review what was accomplished in Bali and take personal responsibility for addressing this crisis. It is not unreasonable to ask, given the gravity of our circumstances, that these heads of state meet every three months until the treaty is completed.

We also need a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store carbon dioxide.

And most important of all, we need to put a price on carbon -- with a CO2 tax that is then rebated back to the people, progressively, according to the laws of each nation, in ways that shift the burden of taxation from employment to pollution. This is by far the most effective and simplest way to accelerate solutions to this crisis."

I hope you will do the right thing, hit the following link: http://www.climateprotect.org/standwithal tell all your friends, tell them to tell all theirs, etc…and start fighting for our planet.

And as always, I welcome your feedback. Please post. Thanks

Christopher Beau
