Wind Power for South Carolina Coast

2009-11-11

Wind Power

As part of Santee Cooper's study into the feasibility of building a wind power farm off the South Carolina coast, Clemson University's Institute for Energy Studies used special software to simulate what a wind farm might look like. These photo simulations show how a wind farm might appear about 7 miles off North Myrtle Beach and about 8 miles off DeBordieu near Winyah Bay. A third photo simulates what wind turbines would look like at varying distances, starting with two miles on the far left and moving out a mile back with each turbine.
